In our latest video tutorial, we explore how to use Light Detection and Ranging, commonly known as LiDAR, within PixElement.

For those new to the field, LiDAR employs laser light to measure distances, capturing millions (or even billions) of individual points in a 3D space. These points correspond to specific locations on the Earth’s surface, enabling the creation of highly detailed and accurate 3D models.

But what sets LiDAR apart? Its accuracy in terrain modeling and elevation data acquisition can be helpful for understanding the topography of areas. Moreover, LiDAR’s ability to penetrate through dense vegetation ensures reliable ground elevation data, even in heavily forested regions.

In our video, we’ll delve deeper into LiDAR’s applications, showcasing how it complements aerial photogrammetry to overcome obstacles such as tree canopies or architectural structures. By integrating LiDAR and photogrammetric data, mapping and modeling projects can achieve high levels of detail and accuracy.

Watch our next tutorial video, where we’ll guide you through the process of importing a LiDAR + Imagery Project into our software.
