Whether you’re delineating stockpiles, construction zones, or environmental features, polygons are a key part of mapping workflows. Our latest update makes it easier than ever to document and share your polygon data with a simple, exportable PDF report.

In this article, we will walk you through how to use the new Polygon Report Tool within the Generate Report tab. Please see the corresponding video tutorial below.

What’s New?

{Polygon Report Example}

You can now generate a Polygon Report that includes:

  • A summary of all user-drawn polygons in the project

  • Polygon names, areas, and perimeters

  • A preview map showing the location of each polygon

  • An export option to download the report as a PDF for archiving, emailing, or inclusion in project documentation

Why It Matters

In practical field workflows, measurements aren’t just visual, they need to be reported, submitted, and reviewed. This feature eliminates the need to manually jot down or screenshot polygon data. Instead, PixElement generates a polished report that’s ready to share.

🛠 How It Works

  • Draw your polygons as usual using PixElement’s annotation tools.

  • Go to the Generate Report tab in your Canvas menu and select Polygon Report

[Generate Report Tab]}

  • Change your File Name and select the appropriate Unit of Measure you would like exported.

  • Check mark whether you would like to
  • Export only visible polygons
  • Include Polygon Coordinates
    • Use only hand placed polygon coordinates
  • Include Notes Page - if you do select this, a box will appear where you can input your notes.

[Generate Report Tab]}

  • Export the report to download and share — done!

The software will then take images of your polygons and generate a report. Upon completion, you will be prompted to save the PDF where you would like.

Drawing in the 2D Viewer

Note: If you prefer to draw your polygons in the 2D view mode, your polygon will appear below your mesh, upon viewing it in 3D. To fix this, select the polygon, go to Modify Heights in the submenu, and then hit **Sample Elevation**. This will bring your polygon up to the correct elevation that your mesh is at.

What’s in the Report?

The PDF includes:

  • Project name & timestamp
  • Project Overview
  • Coordinate System Used / Unit of Measurement
  • Overview of entire model with polygons numbered
  • List of all polygons, including:
    • Name
    • Measurements (Perimeter, Area, Surface Area)
    • Coordinates of each point within the polygon with respective coordinates and elevation
  • Map preview of each polygon overlaid on your base imagery

  • Optional notes/comments if you’ve added any per polygon are provided on the last page of the report.
